The Renewable Energy Congress and Exhibit is a flagship project of the Center for Empowerment, Innovation and Training on Renewable Energy (CentRE) together with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES-Office in the Philippines). It is envisaged as the CentRE’s contribution to the growth of renewable energy industry, particularly micro-renewables like rooftop solar, in the country.
The event brought together around 200 participants working on the issue of renewable energy (RE) to explore and reimagine an energy that is just and democratic. Participants included renewable energy advocates, industry players, communities, LGUs, people’s organizations, financial institutions, social impact investors, and guests from government institutions. It also provided a valuable space for networking among RE advocates and set the stage for further cooperation among civil society, financial institutions and LGUs. Some cooperations were forged such as among the 6 LGUs in Sorsogon that committed to explore RE and work towards its integration in their respective sustainable development agenda.
